We are delighted to announce that the Humble Indie Bundle, that was just announced will have all the games available in the Ubuntu Software Center running natively on Ubuntu.
For the next few weeks you can go and donate whatever you like to buy Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Psychonauts, LIMBO, Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery EP and if you pay more than the average you also get Bastion.
Remember, you only have a few weeks to go and donate whatever you like to buy the games, and when you have bought them from the Humble Indie Bundle Website you can install them with a single click in the Ubuntu Software Center!
Proceeds go to the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Childs Play, so snap up these awesome games, running natively on Ubuntu, and help charities and indie game devs!
We have a few other fun things planned over the next few weeks, so stay tuned!

Excellent choice adding some true Linux games to the Software Center.
Quoting from the relevant page on software-center.ubuntu.com: “On Ubuntu 12.04, Limbo is only available on 32 bit (i386) installations.” Odd, given that the Humble Bundle download page offers a 64 bit deb that works on 12.04.
And if you’ve never played Psychonauts before either because you’ve seen it and thought it looked confusing or had a silly name, or you’ve just never seen it before: GO AND BUY THIS NOW!!
I don’t say this lightly: it’s easily one of the best games I’ve ever played. Top-three. You have to stick at it though. It’s an involved story and the difficulty curve can be a bit epic in places but if you work hard, it’s hilariously good fun.
I honestly don’t know why you’re still reading this post… Go and give £30 to HIB (be generous!) and download Psychonauts.
I’ve bought several humble bundles before– is there any way I can install those through the software center? I reinstall every six months, so I never have them around otherwise, and as a result, never really play them 🙁
Not all the games are running natively in Ubuntu. Limbo is just the windows .exe packaged up with crossover and wine.
I think only 2/5 HIB games are actually available in USC for 64bit. Good show though, looking towards more of this!
This is great. I wouldn’t want to have to choose between a Humble Indie Bundle and the convenience of the Software Centre.
Interesting…. I have 12.04 64bit, and playing LIBO downloaded from USC…
Jono, do you know the people to thank for making this possible? I’d like to add my appreciation for getting the HiB into the Software Center… finally removing a source of tarball indigestion.
hey guys , i’ve kubuntu 12.4 ,i looked in software center and cant find anything can anyone help me?
All 5 games are available in the USC now. Just as of today! 🙂
