24/4/2008. 24th April 2008. April the twenty fourth two thousand and eight.
Get that date in your head – it is when the next version of Ubuntu is released – Ubuntu 8.04, the Hardy Heron.
As with previous releases we would love to see our incredible Ubuntu community hold release parties. So, people, get your engines fired up and lets start seeing some release party foo going on. Organising a party is simple, just follow these easy steps:
- Go and read this guide for running a release party.
- Work with your local Ubuntu LoCo Team, Linux User Group or just work by yourself to get everything in place and organise a party.
- Update this page with the dates and location of your party.
We had a record number of parties for the Gutsy release – lets kick arse and take names with this release and really make some waves. ๐
Jono, you do “Bring it on” a lot!:

Bring It On! ๐
Jono
I’m looking forward to Ubuntu GNU/Linux 8.04 a lot, especially the fantastic new audio subsystem and the inclusion of GNOME 2.20. Fantastic. I don’t think it could be any better, aside from a signed copy by Mark Shuttleworth. (A consideration for the Canonical Store?)
Talking of which, I’ve just purchased an Ubuntu GNU/Linux rucksack, a lanyard, a drinking mug and a keyring with a good mind to purchase a hooded jacket, a sweatshirt and three t-shirts; I’m in need of new clothes as I never buy myself any!
What uses are the funds raised via the Canonical Store put to Jono? Does it fund it directly? I’ve got a warm feeling inside me now.
:p
Right in my birthday. Thanks!
Ubuntu Peru is preparing release on May 3 ๐
@Ruairi Fullam: Maybe “community” jokes should be changed to Bring it On jokes.
Jono, if you happen to be in the Amsterdam area around the 17th of may, be sure to visit our HRP… We’re definitely bringing. It. On. ๐
