Bring the benefits of community collaboration and workflow inside your organization.

Internal InnerSource Community Development

Building an effective community inside your organization can bring tremendous value. Employees are more happier, engaged and more productive, silos are reduced, and overall the company is often more effective. I have extensive experience helping organizations to build communities internally. While many of the principles of open source can apply (also known as innersource), there are also subtle differences and opportunities when building internal communities. Let’s talk and explore what we can do for your organization.

How I can help

While every organization is different and we can tune this work to your needs, here are some common areas in which I have helped my clients building their communities:

i

Strategy and Execution

Gather company goals and bake them into a clear strategy complete with regular execution plans. This will provide clear community strategy, crisp execution across teams, and accountability for delivery and influencing future decisions.

Project Management

Build collaboration and project management skills that encourage and reward teams for collaboration and delivery. We will map the most effective techniques to your organization and track, refine, and regularly optimize how your staff work together.

Infrastructure and Communication

Build a clear, productive, and cost-effective infrastructure for community participation and collaboration. This will span development, communication, knowledge, issue tracking, and more, to ensure your community can work as efficiently as possible.

Metrics and Performance

We will create a set of metrics that doesn’t just generate numbers, but instead points to trends and patterns that you can use to improve, refine, and optimize how your organization works. We will then hook these outcomes to methods of adjusting and refining teams.

Effective Workflow

Identify different community roles and build effective workflow to make participation productive and simple. This will span the entire lifecycle of community roles and help identify process, product, and infrastructure.

Team Relations

We will build strong, empowered teams that work well together, reduce silos, and build a wider sense of community in your organization as well as team spirit in each team. The net effect are happier, more engaged, and productive teams.

Community Growth

We will explore a range of proven approaches for building your internal community. This will mix together projects, events, campaigns, incentive competitions, and more, all designed to get your teams working together and doing great work.
